Activity introduction

Outdoor sketching is an effective way for children to build relationships with the world. Children can observe and feel the sketched objects more profoundly and carefully through the systematically sketching practices. Compared to the studio art, outdoor drawing might face more challenges and difficulties, for example, the changeable weather, the noisy environment, and the limited drawing materials; these factors may distract children from their art-making. However, outdoor drawing activities can educate and entertain children as well.

Our art studio organizes some enjoyable outdoor activities during the summer holidays every year. We choose different places, such as small-town, fish villages,  ancient temples, and etc, different from children's living environment.

One of the purposes of outdoor activities is to provide more opportunities to encourage children to access various places and realize the multicolored culture around the world so that they can accept and respect the distinctions. Another reason is that the earlier children sketch outside, the more sensitive to the artistic creations; that is because when children observe the still life, they have connected to them directly rather than the teacher imparting the textual knowledge to them, and they absorb the details passively. More importantly, they can become more active and dare express their emotions during their creation.
